The law firm of Barna, Guzy & Steffen, Ltd. announces that Thomas R. Wentzell has been named a Shareholder by the Board of Directors. Tom began his career with Barna, Guzy & Steffen as a law clerk from January 2012-April 2013 while he was completing his law degree at University of St. Thomas School of Law. He returned in 2014 to become part of the busy Real Estate Law department. Tom has developed a robust commercial real estate practice, representing property owners and developers with respect to purchase, sale, new development, financing, leasing, and a host of other real estate related transactions. He works significantly in the areas of multifamily housing, office, industrial, and retail properties. Tom graduated cum laude from University of St. Thomas School of Law in 2013. He was a recipient of a Dean’s Award, made the Dean’s list regularly, and received a President’s Scholarship. Tom earned his Bachelor of Arts in Social Science from St. John’s University in 2007 where he graduated magna cum laude, received All-College Honors and played Varsity football. Attorney Cathryn Reher has joined the firm as a Shareholder with more than 30 years of experience. She is recognized for her thorough and detailed estate and long-term care planning analysis and passionate advocacy on behalf of her clients. Cathryn will work closely with our existing team of Estate Planning Attorneys, enhancing the firm’s ability to serve our community. She is certified in federal veterans benefits and has assisted clients with Veterans Homes planning since 1993. Since the 1990s, Cathryn has regularly served as faculty and makes presentations on elder law and special needs planning topics at continuing legal education courses for attorneys through Minnesota CLE and the Minnesota NAELA chapter. She also teaches courses to non-legal professionals obtaining continuing education credits and served as faculty for more than a decade with Kaplan Professional Schools. Long recognized as a leader in her field of law, Cathryn has received multiple accolades from peers and clients over the years. Flexible and remote working was tested on a massive scale at the onset of COVID-19 sheltering restrictions approximately 15 months ago. The positive impact of working remotely Many media outlets have suggested that the ability to work remotely is a very important amenity to the majority of Millennial and Generation Z members. Other proponents cite the desire to live in a more affordable location, or to save on commute times and transportation related costs, or even to reduce their carbon footprint. Employers may find that allowing workers to work remotely improves retention and provides a greater pool of qualified employees to fill job openings.
